(NEW YORK) -- After missing out on a chance to win the gold medal for Team U.S.A. in Beijing this past summer, Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard would like to help bring home the gold again in Rio.
Howard would have won a medal this past summer had it not been for undergoing back surgery that kept him off the court the whole time. The Knicks' Tyson Chandler filled in very well for Howard as Team U.S.A. handled the rest of the competition to take home the gold. Howard is determined to be part of the games in 2016
"No dobut," Howard told Mark Medina of the Daily News. "I was (upset) mad I couldn't play in the playoffs and mad I couldn't play in the Olympics. I wasnt' too happy with the fact that I had to have surgery and miss a lot of basketball."
While it is no slam dunk that Howard will be asked to take part in the games, it is more than likely considering Howard is one of hte best centers in the NBA today.
Howard is in his ninth NBA season and is leading the NBA in rebounds at 11.9 per game.
